This has been our go to Chinese food place since we moved to Georgetown. There's a few more options that I have tried but I know what I'm getting at Shanghai. It's usually pretty consistent and the price is right especially during lunch.

Love this place. Great service and delicious food. It’s open til 10:00pm on weekends, why do you have them closing at 8? I am here now having dinner. You may be hurting their business. You need to correct this, I can see they are doing well and I want them to stay here.

Best Chinese food in town. My favorite is the hot and sour soup. I also like the beef andd broccoli also with spring rolls. I usually get unsweet iced tea which is fresh. I highly recommend!

Amazing selection of delicious Chinese food! MUST TRY!!

Portions were a bit small for the price, and we (a couple) were denied the use of the last booth (a corner booth, which I would normally understand, but it was dead in there except for the 4-5 other booths).Waitress was attentive, food was quick, prepared well, and wonderfully tasty. Wonton soup was...well...wontons and soup. ;) delicious, but they are gonna need the War Wonton Soup we know and love to make us exclusive customers. My only "real" complaint is portion size.

My first try here and had the Kung Pao Combination. That dish was truly made with LOVE. Not your typical Chinese restaurant with bad sauces. I will definitely return.

Before coming here, I was not the biggest fan of Chinese food. Usually I would just get fried rice or something if I went to a Chinese restaurant. But this place totally blew that out of the water. Great staff, convenient location, and overall a great experience. Highly recommend the Mongolian Beef and Orange Chicken!

the egg drop soup tasted like chicken broth, and my sweet and sour chicken had no flavor whatsoever.

Love the place they are the closest to Chinese food in Georgetown. The only complain is their hot & sour soup. This soup it’s made to be hot and very spicy however they send you the soup with no spicy hot inside and give you some chili oil in the side to place in the soup it’s not the right soup. They need to get real Chinese recipes to make the food. The pupu platter don’t offer chicken fingers, shrimp and small pieces of barbecue ribs. Hopefully they will improve

IMHO, I think this is the best of the Chinese resturants inGeorgetown. I have tired them all, but this place is very good.

This place is absolutely slappin' good! The chicken is the bee's knees. It' savoury, juicy, and just phenomenal. Let me tell you, if you go at lunch time on a week day you're gonna get fed a whole meal that includes a soup and sides without breaking the bank. Also, let's just say theoretically you have a late Saturday night and you need a solid amount of smackin' food when you wake up at noon on Sunday, they have a buffet that features their best entrees and sides to help sate that craving you have. Honestly I can't think of a thing wrong with this place. Service? The service is top notch, everyone there is always ready to accommodate anything you need. The food? As previously described, absolutely bonkers. The location? Quiet, easy to get to part of Georgetown. 10/10, 12 stars, Best Asian food around.

Fresh and very delicious! Had the Beef with hot garlic sauce and was amazing. Staff was on point. Had Devon as my waiter and he was very attentive and super friendly. I have been traveling to the area almost every week for work over the last 18 months and just now found this gem. Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work Shanghai Express!

To be honest, as much I find the environment of the place to be extremely outdated, the wall paper being ugly and the floor being dull, the food itself is actually quite decent. The food has some good flavors that can appeal to almost anyone living in the Georgetown area. For example, everytime I order the Triple Delight, the food always comes to me at an insanely short amount of time, all of the 3 meats well cooked, not raw or overcooked, with the brown sauce to be somewhat creamy and well-seasoned. The service is alright(for the most part as I hear that they are not careful in the delivery aspect). But it is tolerable considering the food to be a refreshing taste so it doesn't hurt to come to the Shanghai Express.

Clearly a place for locals. I don't like many Chinese restaurants, but this was decent. The staff was awesome though.Food was alright. I would go back simply because how many good Chinese good restaurants are in Georgetown, Texas?

I shouldn't complain, great prices for what you get. The food was more on the salty side, but not too bad place. My kid loved the general tso chicken.

1st time in and very happy accident as we usually order take out. There was a nice buffet. Under $10 and comes with soup. Very friendly staff and very casual atmosphere but busy. Nice relaxing music. We will be back!

The food and service is amazing. The fish in the fish tank are very nice, they make me smile 🐠🙂

We waited a long time in the front to be seated. Several servers came to the front for items but would not acknowledge us. Eventually the woman working at the bar yelled into the back after 6 other patrons gathered behind us to also be seated. The gentleman who took us to be seated offered us only dirty tables, so we were a bit confused and asked for a clean table. Our waiter was polite, but offered us items that were not on the lunch menu, so he later had to come back and tell us the items we ordered were not able to be served. Two tables near us were given the wrong food order and became very upset with their wait staff. You can very audibly hear the waiters in the back, laughing and discussing personal matters. This would not be an issue, but several of us sat at our tables waiting for re-fills or just to grab their attention. I do not recommend this place for a vegetarian nor vegan, being their menu items are not that great for those with specific diets.

Great lunch menu and fast service. Cooked vegetables were good. Didn't like all of the cabbage in the hot and sour soup.

My go to place for Chinese food in the area. The sesame beef is amazing.
